Exposition of the miraculous crucifix at Ta’ Ġieżu church
The relic of St Francis will also be displayed
The miraculous crucifix, known as Ta’ Ġieżu, will be exposed on Thursday, March 19, from 8pm until midnight and on Friday, March 20, from 6.30am until 10pm.
The miraculous crucifix will be placed on the altar for public veneration. Thursday evening will be a moment of quiet recollection, offering visitors the opportunity to spend time in personal prayer. On Friday, a full programme of masses will take place almost every hour throughout the day, including three masses in English.
Throughout the day, priests will be available to administer the sacrament of reconciliation. Devotional holy cards bearing cotton touched against the miraculous crucifix will also be distributed.
Alongside the miraculous crucifix, the relic of St Francis will also be displayed to mark the 800th anniversary of the Transitus (passing) of St Francis of Assisi.
Due to the large response witnessed over the past two years, several measures have again been taken this year to ensure a more devout and organised experience.
Additional masses have been scheduled so that attendees can be better distributed throughout the day. Entrance will be through the church’s main door, while exit will be through St Ursula Street.
A large screen will also be set up outside the church so that those waiting to enter may follow the proceedings taking place inside.
