In his article regarding the Labour Party's electoral defeat, Desmond Zammit Marmarà stresses the lack of an English-language newspaper as a major factor contributing to the party's loss.

He continues by stating that the majority of the Maltese electorate have rejected the MLP's "partnership" option in favour of the Nationalist Party's membership while ignoring the latter's performance in government.

Mr Zammit Marmarà seems oblivious of the fact that prior to the electoral result a referendum solely concerning the EU issue was held, obtaining a 19,000 majority in favour of membership which, as it turned out, seems to be inexistent to some.

I wish to point out to Mr Zammit Marmarà, that while I certainly did not disregard the government's performance when voting for the general election, likewise I could not overlook that my yes vote in the referendum was ignored by the MLP that was still in opposition.
