While addressing members of the Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry, the leader of half of the Opposition, Adrian Delia, commented on the recently-floated suggestion of a metro system and said that “costs are irrelevant”.
Can any business person ever consider the costs of any mega project as being “irrelevant”? Had Delia been addressing an audience of hardcore Nationalist Party supporters, he might have also been applauded. But he was addressing an erudite audience who can easily distinguish between a true political leader and a fake one.
