Hundreds of families took a glimpse at life on the ocean wave today when the Maritime Museum held its third annual Life at Sea event.
Sailors and soldiers in period costume showed visitors around the various sections of the museum at the water's edge in Vittoriosa and explained the living conditions of sailors in the cramped warships that sailed the Mediterraean between the sixteenth and nineteenth centuries.
Many visitors, particularly the children, were particularly interested in the firing of muskets and even a cannon.
Visitors could also sample a meat pie cooked according to a recipe dating back to the time of the Knights.
Liam Gauci said this was not pageantry and everything the re-enactors were wearing was authentic. The muskets were exact replicas and the gunpower was also an old recipe.
