Instead of the traditional Mother's Day and Father's Day school activities, it was once again decided to organise a Family Day at San Miguel School, Pembroke. The reason behind this being that the needs of our children are not only catered for by their parents or the immediate family members but also by other relatives and friends.

It is therefore only fitting to acknowledge each member of this extended family. Parents, relatives and friends of the children attending San Miguel were invited to come over to the school. The morning started off with a welcome address by the school's head, George Borg, followed by Mass.

A short presentation ceremony was held afterwards during which Michael King, assistant director, Special Needs, of the Education Division, awarded school-leaving certificates to five of the pupils. It was then time for the staff and pupils to show their skills at wheelchair dancing which they had been preparing during the previous couple of weeks. Some of the guests were also invited to take over from the staff and have a go at it.

Another activity was held at the school's indoor pool consisting of a water dance with movements normally carried out during the children's hydrotherapy sessions. Refreshments were then served.

The San Miguel School recently also held its end-of-year barbecue during which the staff and students gave another wheelchair dance performance. Among those who helped organise the event were two parents, Marika and Joanne, and Professor Mark Borg, president of the school council.
