Tony and Lily Gauci from the Christian Family Groups of the Cana Movement took part in a meeting of the Family NGOs Committee of the United Nations, held at the organisation's European headquarters in Vienna.
The NGOs discussed issues related to the effects of AIDS on the family and the need for greater awareness about this disease.
The points for discussion included statistics which show that since the discovery of the disease 25 years ago, 39 million people have fallen victim to AIDS and about 14,000 persons a day are infected with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.
The committee elected a new executive board for the next three years. The Gaucis, who represent the International Confederation of Christian Family Movements, were re-elected, having served in the previous term.
Mr and Mrs Gauci have been members of the UN committee for the last nine years.
