Msida St Joseph midfielder Tyrone Farrugia is out of Sunday's crucial Premier League clash at the Hibs Ground against Hamrun Spartans after he was handed a one-match ban by the Malta FA Disciplinary Commissioner yesterday.
Farrugia collected his fourth yellow card during last Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Hibernians and is now ineligible to play in Msida's must-win match against the Spartans.
Msida are currently eighth in the Premier League standings, one point adrift of the Spartans who beat Valletta 2-1 last weekend.
Todor Raykov's team must beat Hamrun to secure the last-available place in the Championship Pool. On their part, the Spartans need only one point to make sure of a top-six finish.
The other Premier League player on the suspensions' list yesterday was Floriana defender Ian Ciantar.
He picked up his fourth booking during Sunday's 1-1 draw against Birkirkara that sealed his team's fate of playing in the Relegation Pool.
With Floriana having completed their first phase commitments, Ciantar will now miss his team's opening match in the Relegation Pool.
