Father who died in Qormi wall collapse identified as Elia Muscat
Muscat died on site after the wall collapsed on him
Elia Muscat has been identified as the 76-year-old man who died after a wall collapsed on him in Qormi.
The accident took place at around 5.30 pm in Triq Farsina, where the man was working with his 41-year-old son. Part of the wall they were working on in their garage collapsed on them.
It is believed they were carrying out construction work in the garage when the wall collapsed on them.
His son was rushed to Mater Dei Hospital, where he was found to have suffered grievous injuries.
Elia Muscat died on the scene.
Civil Protection Department, police officers and a medical team rushed to the site to assist.
The Building and Construction Authority and the Occupational Health and Safety Authority, meanwhile, noted that no works had been approved or given clearance by either authority.
Both authorities will assist the magisterial inquiry.
