A man was yesterday fined Lm250 and his son put on probation for two years when a magistrate found them guilty of assaulting a family of three.

Joseph Chetcuti, 49, and his son Charlton, 26, of Marsascala, were found guilty of assaulting Benjamin and Marisa Bondin and their son Bernard following an argument that broke out because of noise made by a car in December 2002. They were also found guilty of damaging a car belonging to the Bondins and breaching the peace but cleared of slightly injuring Marisa Bondin and insulting her son.

Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera presided over the case.

Police Inspector Alfred Mallia prosecuted.
