The feast of Christ the King was celebrated today in the parish that bears that name in Paola.

The ceremony was focused on an address from the parvis of Christ the King Parish Church by Archbishop Paul Cremona, followed by Mass.

His listeners included President George Abela, Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi, Chief Justice Silvio Camilleri and Labour MP Gino Cauchi, representing Opposition leader Joseph Muscat.

In his address, Archbishop Paul Cremona urged his listeners to reflect on the Kingdom of God. He said that the Christian vision of reality had Man as its heart because it was only Man which could make it to the Kingdom of God.

Everything else, including political and financial systems, would not last for ever.

The Church therefore, underscored the dignity of Man.

Mgr Cremona stressed that Christians had a duty to look after each other because all were brothers and sisters, wherever they were in the world.

Mgr Cremona said the faithful should adopt God's mission on Earth and be faithful witnessess of His teaching in whatever they did and in all the institutions they formed part of. They should be the voice of the poor and a reflection of God's love for humanity.

As part of the festivities, Archbishop Cremona yesterday also had a meeting with young people at De La Salle College gym.
