Feast of Our Lady of Divine Grace in Victoria on Sunday
Traditional pilgrimage of bikes and bicycles leaves Ta’ Pinu sanctuary at 11.30am
The feast of Our Lady of Divine Grace at the Capuchin Friars sanctuary in Victoria will be celebrated on Sunday. Cathedral archpriest Joseph Sultana will lead a solemn concelebrated mass at 9am and deliver the panegyric. The Żebbuġ parish choir, under the direction of Mro Franco Cefai, will take part.
The traditional pilgrimage of motorcycles and bicycles leaves Ta’ Pinu sanctuary at 11.30am. On arrival at the Victoria sanctuary, Fr Joe Libreri OFM Cap. will bless all the participants and distribute mementos
Mgr Joe Zammit will celebrate mass at 6pm with the participation of the Aurora Youth choir, directed by Matthew Sultana. The procession with the titular statue of Our Lady, accompanied by the Leone Band, starts at 7pm. Soprano Ruth Portelli will sing the Ave Maria at the church parvis as the procession arrives back to the sanctuary.
Fr Massimo Buttigieg will lead the translation of the relic of Our Lady on Saturday at 6.15pm, starting from the home of the previous family that hosted the pilgrimage image of Our Lady. All the families who participated in this chain of prayer and hosted the image are invited to take part in the translation. After the vespers, Fr Buttigieg will lead a concelebrated mass. Marita Zammit Cassar will lead the singing.
A band march by the Leone Band with the outdoor statue of Our Lady will begin from Sir Luigi Camilleri Street at 8.45pm, proceeding to the church parvis, where the statue will be placed on a pedestal. There will be a fireworks display synchronised with music by the Cobra Firing System in front of the sanctuary.
Tuesday, September 16, is Thanksgiving Day. Mass will be celebrated at 7pm. After mass, the statue of Our Lady will be returned to its niche.
