Feast of St Mary Magdalene on Dingli cliffs this week
Those attending can enjoy the sunset amid the surrounding rural environment and the dramatic beauty of the cliffs
The parish of St Mary in Dingli will celebrate the feast of the chapel of St Mary Magdalene, situated at Dingli Cliffs, near the radar station, on Wednesday, July 22.
Mass will be celebrated in the chapel forecourt at 7.30pm by Siġġiewi archpriest Fr Josef Mifsud. A social gathering will follow, during which attendees can enjoy the sunset amid the surrounding rural environment and the dramatic beauty of the cliffs. Everyone is welcome.
The present chapel of St Mary Magdalene at Dingli Cliffs was built in 1646, although there is clear evidence that a chapel had stood on this site for at least 200 years earlier.
The chapel belongs to Dingli parish and, for many years, served the spiritual needs of the farmers and families who lived on or near the cliffs. The titular painting, depicting the meeting between Mary Magdalene and the Risen Christ, was created by Pawlu Camilleri Cauchi in 2005.
