Feast of St Rita at St Augustine’s in Victoria

Thursday, Friday and Saturday are days of solemn adoration of the blessed sacrament

The feast of St Rita was solemnly celebrated at St Augustine church in Victoria with the traditional blessing and distribution of St Rita’s roses. The triduum in preparation for the feast was led by Mgr Carmelo Refalo, while the translation of the relic was led by Father Provincial Leslie Gatt OSA.

On the liturgical feast day, Fr Prior Adeodato Schembri led the blessing and presentation of children and infants to St Rita, while Bishop George Bugeja OFM celebrated pontifical mass together with the Augustinian community, followed by a procession with the devotional statue of St Rita, accompanied by the Santa Margherita Band of Sannat.

Thursday, Friday and Saturday are days of solemn adoration of the blessed sacrament (kwaranturi) at St Augustine church. Mass will be celebrated at 7am and 7.30am, followed by adoration throughout the day.

The rosary will be recited on Thursday and Friday at 6pm, while Mgr Joseph Sultana will celebrate mass at 6.30pm. On Saturday, the rosary will be recited at 5.30pm, with mass celebrated by Mgr Sultana at 6pm, followed by the singing of the Te Deum and Eucharistic blessing.

The music will be under the direction of Mro Ivan Attard and Mro Antoine Mercieca.
