On October 7, the 10.30 a.m. Ta' Pinu ferry from Cirkewwa to Mgarr, left 25 cars stranded at Cirkewwa. The following trip, scheduled for 11.15 a.m., left Cirkewwa at 11.37 a.m., a full 22 minutes behind schedule and berthed at Mgarr three minutes before noon.

A period of one hour and seven minutes without a ferry service is certainly no way to promote tourism in Gozo.

Public Investments Minister Dr Austin Gatt, who is responsible for Gozo Channel, and who approved the hefty rise in car and passenger tickets, should also see that the service is efficient.
