The Fgura council has appealed to the director of local councils to reconsider his decision to reduce the council’s financial allocation by €49,439.

The director had decided to reduce the allocation because of the irregular procedure used in the resurfacing of Gallu and Wistin Levanzin streets.

The council said that while the director did his duty, one also had to consider other matters, including that the work was calculated and approved by the council’s architect and that it was paid for following the Local Councils Department’s approval. The irregular procedure mentioned had never been approved by the council.

The council said it felt that in the circumstances it was not right to reduce the council’s allocation for 2011 by €49,439 because this would affect the council’s work in the best interest of Fgura residents.

The council appealed for the decision to be reconsidered or for the sum to be reduced to at least be changed to a more realistic one.
