Qrendi are very much in the running for a place in the play-offs following this victory over Siggiewi.

The first half produced no goals but after Winston Fenech hit the upright, Kevin Naudi scored twice in quick succession to give Qrendi a 2-0 lead.

Qrendi had Farrugia and Mercieca sent off but Siggiewi only managed a consolation goal through Josef Micallef.

Although Pembroke attacked for most of the match, it was Mgarr who returned home the happier of the two sides.

David Muscat put Mgarr ahead against the run of play on 31 minutes but Pembroke drew level just before half-time through a Robert Zammit penalty.

Neil Busuttil put Mgarr back in front on 68 minutes. Zammit blasted a second Pembroke penalty wide and four minutes from time Alan Chetcuti made sure of Mgarr's points with a third goal.

Xghajra Tornadoes surprised Kalkara in this mid-table clash as they defeated them by a handsome margin with Xghajra striker Neil Attard being the protagonist with two fine goals.

Attard hammered home the opener on 40 minutes and doubled his tally 14 minutes from time with a second goal. Just after the restart Kalkara had Kevin Tonna sent off.

Substitute Adrian Agius scored the Tornadoes' third goal from an Attard delivery.

The scoreline shows a clear victory for Mdina but in reality the winners had to fight hard for the three points as Kirkop shared the exchanges for most of the match.

Chris Farrugia put Kirkop ahead six minutes before half-time. But Mdina rallied after the break and goals from Matthew Francalanza (57th, 90th), Ian Sammut (79th) and Ayrton Buhagiar (86th) tilted the balance in their favour. Buhagiar was sent off after his goal.

This was a deserved victory for Luqa, decided by a first-half goal scored by Randolph Penza. For Sta Lucija, goalkeeper David Brincat distinguished himself with some fine saves.
