Melita Cable TV and internet customers in Gozo are to benefit from better quality services due to an agreement signed yesterday between the company and Enemalta.

Under the agreement, the cable company was granted use of an Enemalta submarine fibre optic cable between Malta and Gozo, via which it will transmit cable television, data and internet services. Fibre optic transmission is considered much more reliable.

OnVol and data customers will also shortly benefit from an improvement of quality and reliability.

Melita is extending its Gozo coverage and recently invested in a return path so that internet services can be accessible from Nadur, Xaghra and Kercem. Customers in these areas can now contact Melita for immediate provisioning of service.

Within the next few days Melita is expected to sign an agreement with Maltacom for the provision of a digital microwave link to serve as an additional back-up for internet and data services.
