William Chetcuti, Maria Mifsud Bonnici and Matthew Fleri Soler are all in the reckoning for a second consecutive Sportivi Nazzjonali award as the 2003 finalists were announced yesterday by the Sportswriters' Association.
Chetcuti and Mifsud Bonnici were the Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year for 2002 while Fleri Soler got the John Debattista Trophy for U-17s in the same edition. All three are again among 25 finalists in five categories.
Team of the Year 2002, the national waterpolo side, were not nominated this time. Coach Dirk Dowling was the 2002 Official of the Year.
Association members will be receiving voting forms in the coming days. The counting procedure will be held on January 23 with the winners announced during a presentations' night on January 24 at the Radisson SAS Hotel.

Team of the Year: Basketball (women), Darts, Rugby, Squash (women), U-19 Table Football.
Official of the Year: K. Buttigieg (rugby), A. Casha (football), A. Chircop (athletics), M. Dalli (waterpolo), B. Vassallo (basketball).
U-17: M. Asciak (tennis), B. Borg (sailing), N. Brimmer (bowling), M. Fleri Soler (sailing), J. Zammit (wrestling).
