Bank of Valletta recently presented the Institute of Financial Services (Malta) with a donation to assist it in providing courses for bank staff in various areas within financial services.
Igino Xuereb, chief officer for retail banking of Bank of Valletta, said the banking environment was changing rapidly and banking groups were changing into financial services groups, offering specialised services such as investments, life assurances and trade finances among others.
The Institute of Financial Services (Malta), formerly the Chartered Institute of Bankers (Malta), was formed in Malta 40 years ago and was a member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, London. It has over 1,200 members.
Charles Borg, president of the institute, said the aim was to train and educate people in the financial services sector.
