NBG Bank Malta Ltd recently appointed Cenk Kahraman as managing director, Ivan Isola as executive director, Garyfallia Spyriouni as chairman and Konstantinos Bratos as non-executive director.

NBG Malta Bank Ltd (formerly Finansbank Malta Ltd) was granted a licence in 2005 to conduct banking activities in Malta, with the primary objective of being a fast-serving, flexible and efficient corporate banking unit within the Finansbank AS Group. Further to the acquisition of Finansbank AS by the National Bank of Greece, as part of the NBG group restructuring, in February 2009 the shares in Finansbank Malta were transferred to NBG International Holding BV, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the National Bank of Greece.

The National Bank of Greece is the oldest Greek commercial bank and largest financial group in the country, operating in Greece, Turkey, Albania, Australia, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Egypt, FYROM, Romania, Serbia, South Africa and the UK. NBG Group has a total asset size of €112 billion, employing over 36,000 employees.

As part of the NBG Group strategy, NBG Bank Malta is aiming to expand its cross-border activities through diversification in other markets.

As at December 31, 2009, NBG Bank Malta Ltd reported total assets of €1.6 billion and a profit after tax of €29.9 million.
