Both matches from the men's Division One last week finished with identical 3-2 scorelines. Aloy-sians had the better of Kerygma Savemart while Pembroke edged out Fleur-de-Lys FEB.

Aloysians were effective in reception and defence but Kery-gma played badly in attack. All sets finished with some tight scores except for the third which Kery-gma enjoyed the upperhand. In the end, Aloysians' better teamwork won them the day.

Fleur-de-Lys vs Pembroke was a balanced game which could have gone either way. Pembroke won the first set but lost the next two.

They then hit back to level the score at 2-2 with the fifth set providing an interesting finale.

At one point, FEB had recovered at 10-10 but Pembroke soon hit an extra gear to win the decider 15-11.

In the men's Division Two, national coach Bernardo Bandelli's U-17 side - Club Malta - made its debut with a fine 3-0 win over Aloysians. Fleur-de-Lys went down 3-2, this time to San Anton.

The two games from the women's top league saw Ace Enka and PlayVolley winning by straight scores at the expense of Pembroke and Kerygma.

Ace won the first two sets with ease... Pembroke offering resistance in the final set only.

PlayVolley vs Kerygma was a showcase for some young and talented players. The first set was dominated by a rally of 13 consecutive service points for PlayVolley.

The second and third sets were evenly balanced but PlayVolley were always in command.
