A Naxxar man who was originally fined Lm100 for driving recklessly and dangerously yesterday had his fine reduced to Lm50 after an appeal court acquitted him of driving dangerously.

Paul Magri, 21, was originally found guilty of driving recklessly and dangerously and failing to stop at a "stop" sign on August 4, 2002. The Magistrates' Court fined him Lm100 and suspended his driving licence for three months.

But Mr Justice Joseph Galea Debono cleared him of dangerous driving and consequently reduced his fine to Lm50 and suspended his licence for eight days.
