Fined for VAT law violations

Three men were fined Lm12,198 between them for breaching VAT regulations.

Eugenio Lama, 56, of Naxxar was fined Lm3,120 and Lm4,740 for failing to pay VAT after having been ordered to do so by a court on two separate occasions.

Emanuel Abela, 49, of Paola was fined Lm3,954 and Francis Bonnici, 39, of Sliema was fined Lm384 for the same reason.

Magistrate Saviour Demicoli fined the men after they all pleaded guilty to the charge.

Police Inspector Alex Miruzzi prosecuted.
