Fire in flat, garage

A couple were shocked to find that their St Paul's Bay flat was on fire when they returned after a night out early yesterday morning.

Sources close to the police said the source of the fire was believed to be an air conditioner.

The fire section of the Civil Protection Department were called to extinguish the blaze. No one was injured, though the police are investigating.

Meanwhile, the police said a man was injured when he tried to extinguish a fire inside a garage in Cospicua late on Monday evening. His condition is not serious.

Magistrate Silvio Demicoli conducted an inquiry and appointed a team of court experts to help.
