First gold and silver market opens

Malta's first gold and silver market, Gaba Gioielli, has opened in Naxxar Road, Lija.

The latest brainchild of Gaba Diamonds, this outlet brings thousands of items from hundreds of different manufacturers all under one roof.

"The notion is that silver and gold have to be expensive, but I assure you it is not the case," company director Lee Satariano said during the new outlet's inauguration.

"We want to change the idea of stiffness usually associated with the purchase of jewellery. Take, for example, the idea of costume jewellery. Everybody loves such accessories but would never imagine visiting a jewellery outlet, especially Gaga Diamonds, for such items.

"Through this new concept, all this has changed," Mr Satariano said.
