Five second generation children of Maltese emigrants received their First Holy Communion and three others the sacrament of Holy Confirmation at the church of Our Lady of Victories in Valletta on Wednesday.

Two of the children come from the USA, another two from Canada, three are from Australia and one from France.

Mgr Philip Calleja, president and founder of the Emigrants' Commission, said one of the main activities of the Emigrants' Commission was to keep in contact as much as possible with Maltese emigrants wherever they settled down.

The Catholic Enquiry Centre of the Emigrants' Commission prepares the children for their First Holy Communion and for Holy Confirmation.
