It may sound unusual, but the crew of a Maltese fishing boat have reported being mystified over how their catches have increased in the past few weeks.
The Nanna Grez sailed into Grand Harbour this morning with up to €12,000 worth of fish including red mullet, octopus, squid and cuttle fish.
The catch was unloaded at the fishmarket and immediately put into a freezer truck bound for the airport and export to Cyrpus, where the catch fetches twice the price it does in Malta.
Owner Charles Azzopardi said that as people discussed bad news related to fishing, he wanted to highlight good news, as well as the hardship the fishermen endure.
The five-man crew of the 18-metre Nanna Grez were out at sea for four days before returning home at 4 a.m.
