Razzett tal-Hbiberija and the Iasis Fitness Centre recently hosted the second edition of the BUPA Fitness Competition to raise money for a new multi-sensory room.
A number of teams representing the various fitness clubs on the island competed against the clock to finish the competition which included a 1.5-kilometre cycle ride, an 800-metre sprint and a variety of weight lifting exercises for different muscle groups.
Some of the top local athletes in triathlon and athletics took part in the event.
Funds raised through sponsorship and donations for the event went towards the Razzett tal-Hbiberija which provides people with a disability with free leisure, educational and therapeutic services.
Razzett is raising funds for the construction of a new multi-sensory room which will help treat a number of disabilities including autism, chronic pain and hyperactivity. The project will cost in excess of Lm50,000 to construct.
Razzett has been offering services to the disabled for the past 14 years and now extends its services to over 15 organisations, 43 schools and countless individuals.
The educational and therapeutic programmes amount to about 1,000 sessions a month.
