Five caught racing illegally in Ta' Qali, to be charged with dangerous driving
The men are aged between 18 and 26
The police on Sunday caught five people driving dangerously and speeding in the Ta' Qali area.
In a statement, they said the men - two aged 18, two aged 21 and another one aged 26 - will be charged in court.
The officers went to the Ta' Qali area following reports of reckless driving and illegal street racing.
While on Triq San Ġakbu in Attard, the officers observed two vehicles driven at excessive speed. The drivers were ignoring traffic signs, driving dangerously and putting other commuters' lives at risk.
The two drivers, both aged 18, were stopped and informed that criminal charges would be issued against them.
Later, on Triq id-Durumblat, Mosta, three more vehicles were spotted being driven at high speed, including one that drove on the wrong side of the road to overtake traffic.
The three drivers, two aged 21 and one aged 26, were identified and also informed that they will face criminal charges.
The police warned, in a statement, that dangerous driving and street racing put lives at risk.
