Five immigrants have been repatriated to Lagos, Nigeria, by the Police Immigration Section in a Frontex operation organised by the Italian Authorities and coordinated in Malta's case by the Foreign Ministry.

The flight also saw another five Nigerian immigrants repatriated by Greece.

Further efforts are underway for such operations to continue, the police said.

Most of the costs are being borne by the European Union.
