In its efforts to revamp the Waterpolo Club at Birzebbuga, the committee held a clean-up of the pitch.

Use of the pitch had become dangerous due to the many items that had been thrown in the water by vandals, a club spokesman said.

Indeed, the rubbish recovered included tables and dustbins and five skips were required to dispose of it.

In view of a request to host a charitable activity later on this summer and in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the Atlam SubAcqua Club, the Birzebbuga club requested and obtained assistance from several ministries, the local council and the Blue Sea Sport Angling Club.
