The Hunters' Federation said today that the Ornis Committee had given serious consideration to proposals it had made for a spring hunting season.
It said its proposals were "very seriously considered and given due deliberation with constructive and scientifically based comments", the exception being the Birdlife Malta representatives.
"The government representatives and most of the other government appointees on the committee based their considerations on the basis of FKNK proposals and scientific workings," the federation said, the main exceptions being the length of the proposed season and the hunters' bag.
The committee yesterday agreed to recommend a short spring season in April. BirdLife immediately slammed the decision.
The FKNK regretted that although the Ornis Committee decided not to disclose any details of the meeting's discussions, Birdlife Malta immediately issued a press release.
The federation said it would give its full reaction to the outcome of the Ornis meeting later this month.
