A local radio station wants to see your flag
Calypso Radio is attempting to set a national record for the number of flags displayed simultaneously on masts across Malta and Gozo
Over 200 people and organisations have already expressed interest in an initiative, spearheaded by Calypso Radio, to set a national record for the number of flags displayed simultaneously on masts across Malta and Gozo.
The event - called The National Flag Record - will take place on Sunday (April 19), and people are being asked to register their interest here.
They can register their mast ahead of time to be kept updated on the final tally.
Calypso Radio said the event is meant to serve as a nationwide celebration of the islands' heritage, and, although facilitated by the local station, "the true record-breakers will be the local enthusiasts and organisations taking to their rooftops".
Participants are free to raise a flag of their choice.
In order for Malta Records to have an official number of flags raised, participants are being asked to post a photo of their flag in the comments section of a post that Calypso Radio 101.8 will put up on its Facebook page on Sunday morning.
They are being asked to include their name and locality along with the photo.
Malta Records will be monitoring the Facebook thread and counting every photo submitted that includes the required details to officially establish the new national record.
The official record outcome will be announced on Calypso Radio on April 21 at 7.30am.
