I write to set the record straight in response to George Camilleri's letter to the editor where he states that there are no direct flights to Valencia (January 3).

Britannia Tours operated direct flights to Valencia in 2007 and 2008. Mr Camilleri correctly notes that Ryanair have dropped this route. This is because Valencia no longer supports Ryanair financially.

Britannia Tours operated 12 flights from Malta to Valencia last year and will be operating more direct flights over Easter and all through summer 2009.

Furthermore, Britannia Tours will also operate regular flights to Gerona in summer 2009 and some ad hoc flights to other destinations in Spain. There will also be regular charter flights to several other European destinations along with the Holy Land.

I agree with Mr Camilleri that Valencia is the gateway for Maltese travellers to Costa Blanca (Alicante and Benidorm), Costa del Azahar (capital of the province of Valencia) and Costa Dorada (Roman Tarragona and Peniscola). Naturally, Britannia's flights are also open to any Spanish operators that would like to send tourists and students to Malta on this direct service.

Mr Camilleri and all members of the public are welcome to contact me at nf@bsl.com.mt or to call at Britannia Tours office at 191, Merchants' Street, Valletta to discuss their ideas and suggestions for this and any other destinations they would like us to consider.
