The Floriana FC nursery recently held its annual activity during which a presentation is made to honour former team players. This time it was the turn of Freddie Vella James to receive the honour.

Vella James played for Floriana for 12 years between 1955 and 1967. With the team, he won two league titles, the FA Trophy three times and the Footballer of the Year award in 1959.

Those present for the occasion were addressed by Dr Hugh Peralta and Joe Debattista, chairman and vice-chairman of the nursery.

Meanwhile, the U-11 team from Floriana recently won a tournament in Messina. In all, 24 teams were taking part, mainly from Italy and the Czech Republic.
