Floriana cruised to their first win of the season when they cruised past Qormi 3-0 at the Hibs Stadium.

It was Floriana who had their first attempt at goal on 19 minutes when Antonio Monticelli picked Mauricio Villa but his header flew over.

The stalemate was finally broken on 29 minutes when Ousmane Sidibe was adjudged to have blocked Villa’s shot with his arm with referee Esther Azzopardi pointing to the spot.

Mario Fontanella stepped up for the kick and blasted the ball into the net.

The Floriana striker almost struck again on 36 minutes but this time he was denied by the woodwork as his firm drive came off the crossbar.

Floriana doubled their lead on 72 minutes when Andreas Vella misjudged Nicolas Chiesa’s cross with the ball falling to Juninho who quickly lobbed the ball for Steve Bonnici to head into an empty net.

The Greens wrapped up the points four minutes later when they were awarded a corner-kick from which Chiesa sent a dipping cross towards Scozzese who headed the ball into the bottom corner of the net.

Floriana’s Mario Fontanella was voted as the BOV Player of the match.
