The European Heritage Days, coordinated in Malta by the Superintendence of Cultural Heritage, will be held between October 17-24, with the subject this year being Windmills As Lost Marks In Our Cultural Landscape.
The Ta' Xarolla windmill in Zurrieq will be open to the public on those dates as part of the activities, which this year include archaeological tours of several windmills in Malta and Gozo.
Other heritage sites open for viewing will be St Agatha's Tower, Wignacourt Tower in Mellieha and the Msida bastion Garden of Rest among others.
A national competition for schoolchildren will be held during campaign week. Lesson plans for primary and secondary school teachers are available at www.culturalheritage.org.mt.
The European Heritage Days is a Council of Europe campaign organised in collaboration with the European Union.
