The Federation has written to the authorities and has held discussions with the Minister for Information Technology and Investment, and the Commissioner for Data Protection, together with other employer organisations on the fees chargeable to employers under the Data Protection Act.

The FOI believes that these fees are but an additional tax that will contribute to further increase enterprises' operating expenses and to add to their current problems of competing in the prevailing difficult market conditions.

However, positive developments on the matter are expected this week.
