Fontana celebrates feast of Sacred Heart of Jesus on Sunday
Parish holds three days of preparation, including masses and adoration
The liturgical feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Fontana will be celebrated on Friday, while the feast proper is on Sunday. The parish is holding three days of preparation prior to the feast, including solemn adoration throughout the day as well as solemn high mass at 7pm. The sermons will be delivered by Can. Michael Borg, while the Chorus Urbanus and orchestra will animate the liturgy.
Masses will be said tomorrow at 6.15am, 7am, 11.30am, noon and 9pm. Bishop George Bugeja will preside over a pontifical mass at 6.30pm, followed by a procession with the Blessed Sacrament. Band marches by the San Girgor Band of Kerċem will start at 9.30pm.
On Saturday, eve of the feast, Mgr Joseph Sultana will preside over the translation of the relic of the Holy Cross at 6.30pm, followed by sung mass. The Santa Margerita Band of Sannat will start the traditional band march along the streets of the village at 9.30pm.
On Sunday, feast day, masses will be said at 6.30am, 7.30am, 11am and 5.30pm. Bishop Anton Teuma will celebrate pontifical mass at 9am. The Missa Fons Vitae by Mro John Galea will be executed. Vespers will be sung at 6.30pm, followed by the procession with the statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus at 7.30pm. The La Stella Band of Victoria will take part.
