Foodbank Lifeline Foundation holding open day, appeals for donations
The foundation delivers food and hope to needy families
The Foodbank Lifeline Foundation will host an Open Day on Saturday, inviting people to attend and donate food, thus helping it deliver hope for families who need support this winter. The foundation operated from 10, Triq il-Pitkali Marsa, next to Yellow Pages.
"HOPE is the Foodbank Lifeline Foundation engine and YOU can provide the fuel by donating non-perishable food items that will help the Foundation fill those boxes. Each completed box contributes to the food packs delivered directly to individuals and families assessed by social workers to be in urgent need," the foundation said.
“The Open Day gives the public the opportunity to see firsthand how their contributions are transformed into essential support for families in crisis. It is an important moment for us to welcome the community, demonstrate the impact of their generosity, and highlight how vital ongoing public involvement is to sustaining our operations throughout the year.”
The Foodbank Lifeline Foundation is also inviting the public to channel the Christmas spirit into meaningful action by participating in the 2025 Reverse Advent Calendar (RAC). Mirroring the structure of a traditional advent calendar, the RAC encourages individuals to place one non-perishable food item into a box each day for 24 days. .
This year’s theme, “Delivering H.O.P.E. this Christmas,” underscores the Foundation’s mission and the values represented by each completed box: Help, Opportunity, Provision and Empathy.
Since its establishment in 2015, the Foodbank Lifeline Foundation has remained one of Malta’s primary providers of direct food assistance to individuals and families facing short-term hardship.
With the support of long-standing partners Izola Bank and The Alfred Mizzi Foundation, the organisation has delivered essential food aid to thousands of households across Malta and Gozo.
There are multiple ways to donate. In addition to visiting the Foundation during the Open Day, participants may assemble their own RAC box at home or collect a smaller number of items and deliver them to one of the Foundation’s designated drop-off points. Whichever method they choose, every contribution plays a direct role in supporting individuals and families experiencing a temporary crisis.
