Burnley in hunt for Celtic's Fox
Burnley manager Brian Laws has confirmed he is in talks with Celtic's Danny Fox over a move for the Scottish international left-back to Turf Moor.
Fox, 23, only joined Celtic from Coventry in the summer but has indicated to Laws he would relish a move to the Premier League.
Laws said: "He's one of quite a few players that I'm talking to and one thing very evident is that they all want to come here and that's very, very pleasing.
"He's one of many options, and if it's not Fox it will be someone else. I'm trying to sign a few more players, I'm hoping to conclude at least a couple more players before the window shuts."
Huntelaar desperate for playing time
Unsettled Milan striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar has no preference as to which country he ends up moving to, provided he is guaranteed playing time, according to his agent.
Huntelaar has had a limited impact for Leonardo's Milan side this season and has been linked with moves to Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham, Ajax and FC Twente.
"He wants to play more," Huntelaar's agent, Arnold Oosterveer, said.
"That is all he wants. It's because in the summer the World Cup will take place and he wants to be there."
Tottenham take Gudjohnsen on loan
Tottenham Hotspur have signed former Barcelona and Chelsea forward Eidur Gudjohnsen on loan from Monaco until the end of the season, manager Harry Redknapp said yesterday.
"I just thought he's a good player and he can play several positions for us, he can play in a midfield or attacking-midfield role if we want to change our system," he told the BBC.
"We've lost Aaron Lennon (to injury) so we haven't got a great deal of width. We can play a diamond formation if we want to and he can be a big player in that system.
"So, yes, we took him on loan until the end of the season to see how it goes."
Iceland international Gudjohnsen has played 11 matches in all competitions for Monaco this season, starting seven, but has not scored for the Ligue 1 side.
Fyvie is youngest SPL scorer
Fraser Fyvie became the youngest goalscorer in Scottish Premier League history as Aberdeen beat Hearts 3-0 at Tynecastle on Wednesday.
Fyvie, aged 16 years and 10 months, opened the scoring with his first professional goal to beat Dundee United striker David Goodwillie's record by more than a month.
It was Fyvie's first professional goal and further strikes from Darren Mackie and Derek Young wrapped up an easy win for the Dons.
Aberdeen have been trying for some time to extend Fyvie's contract.
"All we're trying to do is prolong it and give him more money," manager Mark McGhee said.
Iaquinta delays Juve comeback
Vincenzo Iaquinta will have to wait until the middle of February to make a comeback to first-team football as the Juventus striker is still not fully recovered from injury.
The 29-year-old, who started the season on fire with three goals in six starts, has been on the sidelines since October 24 when he required surgery to repair the meniscus in his knee. Claudio Marchisio and Gigi Buffon have also had the operation since then, but both players are back in the Juve fold.
According to reports in the press, it appears the cartilage around Iaquinta's left knee also needed cleaning, something that extends the recuperation process.
That explains why Marchisio only needed 46 days and Buffon 35 to make a full recovery.
City close in on winger Johnson
Manchester City will try to make up for their shattering League Cup semi-final disappointment by engaging in a little bit of retail therapy.
Within an hour of their 3-1 defeat to Man. United at Old Trafford, it emerged City had tabled a big-money offer for Middlesbrough winger Adam Johnson.
The highly-rated England U-21 star is out of contract in the summer and doing a deal now makes sense for Johnson and his club given the amount of cash City have to spend.
There is even talk Johnson might be allowed to remain at the Riverside until the end of the season.
Left-back Shorey returns to Villa
Aston Villa have recalled left-back Nicky Shorey from a loan spell at Championship promotion candidates Notting-ham Forest.
Shorey has been on loan with Billy Davies's side for the past two months and has played a key role in Forest climbing into second spot in the table.
But Villa boss Martin O'Neill has recalled the former England international because of a shin injury to first-choice left-back Stephen Warnock.
Shorey was on the substitutes' bench for Wednesday's home clash with Arsenal with Luke Young switching from right-back to fill Warnock's role. Shorey had started the season as Villa's first choice but the arrival of Warnock led to him losing his place.
