• A bazaar is being held at St Helen parish centre, Birkirkara, (behind the basilica), from Tuesday to November 12, between 9 a.m. and noon and from 4.30 to 7 p.m. (Sunday, mornings only).

Among the items for sale there will be home grown pot plants, furniture, antiques and bric-a-brac.

• The Akkademja tal-Maltin is organising a musico-literary programme in honour of Fr Mikiel Fsadni and Prof. Godfrey Wettinger, the two scholars who, in 1966, discovered the earliest known poem written in Medieval Maltese - the Cantilena by Pietro Caxaro. The event is taking place at the Dominican Fathers church in Rabat on Wednesday at 7.30 p.m.

• Three seminars are being held to mark the 20th anniversary of Mulieris Dignitatem, the apostolic letter that Pope John Paul II issued in 1988 regarding the dignity and vocation of women.

The first seminar, 'Discovering women as a gift of God at the place of work', takes place at the Catholic Institute, Floriana on Friday at 7 p.m. Antoinette Caruana will talk about 'Women at the workplace' and Vincent Grech will speak about 'Men helping and supporting women who go out to work'.

The second seminar, 'Discovering women as a gift of God in the role of leaders', will be held at the Catholic Institute on November 14 at 7 p.m. Lara Tonna will speak about 'Women in leadership roles' while Magistrate Doreen Clarke will address the topic 'Women as an instrument of peace and justice'.

The final seminar, 'Discovering women as a gift of God in the family and society', takes place at St Monica School, Gżira on November 19 at 7 p.m. Antoinette and Claudio Laferla will talk about 'Parents together, bringing up children together' and Maria Attard will talk about 'Unmarried women and their contribution to society'. This seminar will be closed by Archbishop Paul Cremona.

• A bazaar in aid of Sunrise Centre (Ċentru Tbexbix), of 6 Lazarus Street, Cospicua, will be held on Saturday and Sunday. There will be household goods, books, clothes, plants, Christmas items and many other things for sale.

• A course offering missionary formation aimed at people wishing to live a missionary experience abroad starts on November 27. • The Gozo CCU Foundation is staging an evening at the Grand Hotel, Mġarr, on November 29 at 6.30 p.m., in aid of the Hearts of Gozo. Tickets cost €30 per person. There will also be a concert by the Amadeus Choir from Malta.

The concert will be followed by a sumptuous dinner, with the participation of The Wallace Pipes and Drums.
