A man was yesterday given a two-year jail term suspended for three years for forging Lm5 notes.
Anthony Scicluna, 37, pleaded guilty to possessing forged notes, forging them and possessing paper and instruments for forgery on and before May 14.
He also pleaded guilty to stealing diesel and petrol from Automarket Service Station in Zebbug to the detriment of Fal-Con Company Limited and other people, and defrauding them of over Lm50.
On handing down judgment, Magistrate Abigail Lofaro noted that Scicluna cooperated with police and filed a guilty plea in the early stages of the court proceedings.
She also noted that his criminal record was not an alarming one and ruled that he deserved a chance to change his ways.
Police Inspector Martin Sammut prosecuted.
