I refer to the write-up on Fort St Elmo (November 1) and once again suggest to the authorities that the best way, in my opinion, would be to form a consortium so that this place would be turned into a historical attraction.

The armed forces of Malta should have a base there, too, because the fort is part of the history of Malta and our ancestors fought the enemy from that place. A monument for those who died there would be more appreciated by all the Maltese people. It would be ideal to have a home for elderly Valletta citizens so that they remain residing in the capital.

A museum and cultural centre are a sine qua non. It could be a Museum of Maltese Transport, for which the Touring Club of Malta is still seeking a suitable site.
