NCW will be celebrating World Women's Day on Saturday at 10 a.m. with a Mass at St Patrick's church, Sliema. Fr Joe Cini will celebrate Mass and the St Patrick's Church Choir will be in attendance. Parking is available in the school grounds.
Meetings with social partners
This year International Women's Day, March 8, is of particular significance as it coincides with the United Nations Beijing+10 meeting to be held in New York. The aim of the meeting is to review the position of women in a number of areas, social, economical and political.
As part of its activities commemorating Women's Day, the NCW executive committee is once again meeting different stakeholders and social partners to discuss some of the issues that require particular attention and to discuss how best we can work together for the benefit of society.
Gozo outing
The Environment Committee will be organising a day trip to Gozo on Thursday, March 10. We will be visiting an agricultural farm, a factory and a typical farmhouse.
Transport leaves various pick-up points at 7.30 a.m. Price Lm3, lunch and boat not included. Number is limited. Booking by Monday, March 7.
Passover Meal
The traditional Passover Meal will be held at the NCW Centre on Wednesday, March 16, at 7 p.m. Fr George Dalli will animate the evening. Price Lm5. Places are limited so it is on first come first served basis. Booking will be accepted by Monday, March 14.
Half-day of recollection
The customary Lenten half-day retreat will be held on Wednesday, March 23, during Holy Week at the NCW Centre, Blata l-Bajda, from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. This year's animator will be Mgr Lawrence Gatt. He will also celebrate Mass at noon at the centre.
