Four new parish priests, new Seminary vice-rector appointed

Balzan, Ħamrun, Marsaxlokk and Mtarfa will be getting new parish priests

Four new parish priests have been appointed to serve in Balzan, Ħamrun, Marsaxlokk and Mtarfa, the Archbishop’s Curia announced on Saturday.

Archbishop Charles Scicluna has entrusted the Parish of the Annunciation of Our Lady in Balzan to Fr Bernard Micallef, the Parish of St Cajetan in Ħamrun to Fr Stefan Galea, the Parish of Our Lady of Pompei in Marsaxlokk to Fr Roderick Baldacchino, and the Parish of St Lucy in Mtarfa to Fr Karl Andrew Schembri.

They are replacing Fr Karm Farrugia, Fr Walter Cauchi, Fr George Spiteri, and Fr René Vella respectively.

Fr Farrugia and Fr Cauchi will now be reassigned to pastoral work within the diocese. Fr Spiteri will be assigned to pastoral work in the Parish of ST Catherine Virgin and Martyr in Żejtun. Fr Vella will join the team of priests working pastorally at Mater Dei Hospital.

The Archbishop has also appointed Fr James Saydon as the Vice-Rector of the Archbishop's Seminary in Tal-Virtù, replacing Fr Carlo Calleja.
