Four young men were yesterday charged with threatening and assaulting three police officers in Paceville on Sunday.

Ludwig Cassar, of Ibrag, Daniel Cachia, of Msida, and Mark Borg, of Swieqi, all 20, and a 17-year-old, whose name cannot be published because he is a minor, pleaded not guilty to threatening and assaulting a police sergeant and two constables, disobeying the police and causing over Lm50 damage to the detriment of the government.

Borg was also charged with seriously injuring a police constable while the 17-year-old was charged with slightly injuring the other constable.

They were granted bail against a personal guarantee of Lm5,000 each.

Police Inspector Carmel Abdilla prosecuted.
