Four of the 28 people injured when a Porsche 918 Spyder ploughed into the crowd of spectators at the annual Paqpaqli motor show three weeks ago remain in hospital.

They include a 54-year-old man from Fgura who remains in intensive care at Mater Dei Hospital after he ended up being wedged between the Porsche and a car on static display at the Paqpaqli Għall-Istrina charity event on October 4.

Another 20-year-old man, from Tarxien, is also in serious condition, although he is not in danger of losing his life, hospital sources said.

The other two patients are a 38-year-old woman and her six-year-old daughter. They are reported to be in stable condition and are making good progress after spending time in intensive care.

The inquiry into the accident, headed by Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera, has continued to gather evidence, but sources said there were no new developments to report.

In the meantime, court experts continue to sift through evidence that could shed light on what went wrong.

Sources close to the investigation told The Sunday Times of Malta that once the court experts concluded their assignments, the inquiring team would be in a better position to determine whether anyone should face criminal charges in court.
