Four people including a baby were injured in a traffic collision in St Paul's Bay on Thursday afternoon.

The police said the accident happened in Triq Għajn Tuffieħa at 2pm.

A Toyota Vitz that was being driven by a 71-year-old woman who lives in Mġarr was involved in a collision with a Skoda Fabia that was being driven by a 45-year-old Italian man.

A 19-year-old British woman was with the 71-year-old while two women, one aged 67, the other 36, a 69-year-old man, and a four-month-old girl were with the Italian.

A medical team, Civil Protection officers and several ambulances were called on site to assist the injured after which the four Skoda passengers and the 71-year-old Vitz driver were taken to Mater Dei Hospital.

The 71-year-old driver, the 67-year-old passenger and the baby suffered grievous injuries. The injuries of the 36-year-old woman and the 69-year-old man were slight.

The police are investigating.
