A Valletta man was yesterday jailed for two years and four months for theft, fraud, forgery and drug possession after a magistrate noted that his criminal record was "very alarming".
Joseph Camilleri, 32, pleaded guilty to stealing a credit card and mobile phone to the detriment of Ann Kristin Rieger on March 10, forging her signature, making malicious use of the forged document and defrauding her of Lm270. Camilleri also admitted to stealing Ruth Attard's mobile phone on April 14 and stealing Lm100, €545 and a mobile phone from Patrick Cuschieri on June 22.
He also admitted to the possession of heroin and relapsing.
Handing down judgment, Magistrate Abigail Lofaro noted that Camilleri's criminal record was alarming and he deserved a jail term.
Inspectors Ramon Mercieca and Josric Mifsud prosecuted while Dr Renzo Porcella-Flores represented the defendant.
